Our Initiatives

What we Do

Teacher Grants

Empowering Educators

The Fort Davis Education Foundation awards classroom grants to support teaching and learning in Fort Davis schools. In three cycles of grants each academic year, teachers submit applications for classroom materials, special projects, field trips, professional development, and extra-curricular programs and activities.

Previous classroom grants have funded new stage lighting in the high school auditorium, costumes for the Ballet Folklorico dance group, smart boards in every classroom to make learning more interactive and engaging, equipment to support agriculture education, and more!

Over the last 10 years, FDEF has awarded more than $90,000 to Fort Davis ISD teachers, coaches and staff.

Providing financial support to deserving graduates through post-secondary scholarships. Our aim is to make education accessible to all, regardless of financial constraints. We provide every graduating senior a scholarship for their first four semesters of 4 year, 2 year, technical or trade school.

Over the last 10 years, FDEF has awarded over $160,000 in scholarships to Fort Davis graduates.

Special Program Support

Enriching Education

The Fort Davis Education Foundation played a key role in bringing music back to FDISD after the program was cut in 2014 due to budget constraints.

Thanks to a generous donation from Don Witte and support from the foundation, the district was able to hire a music teacher, purchase instruments, and reintroduce music education. Today, students once again have the opportunity to learn and perform, enriching their educational experience. The foundation is proud to support initiatives like this, ensuring Fort Davis students have access to a well-rounded education.

In the last 16 months, FDEF has given over $120,000 to support special programs at both campuses.

Thanks to generous directed donations from corporations, trust and foundations, FDISD students have benefited both in and out of the classroom to become more well-rounded students.

Some recent directed donations include:

  • $10,000 for sports registration fees to enhance the physical and mental well-being of Dirks-Anderson Elementary students

  • $12,000 for agriculture program development at Fort Davis Jr/Sr High

  • $2,000 from the National Philanthropic Trust for graduate scholarships
